Why Use our Mental Health Solicitors?

Under the Mental Health Act, patients often do not know where to turn and what their human rights are when they are detained in hospital. We appreciate that if you have a loved one detained under the Mental Health Act then this too can be an overwhelming period.

You may also need our advice where capacity of a loved one has come into question and what steps you need to take legally.

Our solicitors can also help once a patient is discharged into the community; they often require advice and assistance about their rights and what they are entitled to from the Social Services who are under a statutory obligation to provide care in the community and to help them manage their day to day living.

Our role is to appoint 2 solicitors to deal with your enquiry. You can make your decision on the solicitors to instruct based on the quality of the initial advice given over the telephone, by email or in person.

Our mental health law solicitors are able to provide advise on mental capacity, mental health, rights of people detained under the mental health act, the rights of the Nearest Relative, aftercare provisions and access to social services, care in the community, appointing an executor, consent to treatment, supervised discharge, guardianship, court of Protection, prisoners requiring transfer to hospital, Human Rights Act issues, Judicial Review, representation before Mental Health Review Tribunals and at Hospital Managers Hearings, and where appropriate obtaining independent opinions, liaising with doctors, social workers and community mental health teams.
